Communication Satellites for European Defence and Security: Challenges and Opportunities

Satellite communications are critical elements for defence, security, humanitarian aid, emergency response and diplomatic communications. The European Council identified Satellite Communications as one of the critical capability shortfalls to be addressed through concrete projects by Member States, in conjunction with the European Defence Agency.

Preparations for the next generation of Governmental Satellite Communications (GovSatCom) are under way through close cooperation between Member States, the European Commission and the European Space Agency. This seminar, organised by the Directorate for Defence of the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs looks at the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead.
