Competitiveness check-up
Ministers will discuss the monitoring of industrial competitiveness mainstreaming, which is a process designed to ensure that EU policies have a positive impact on the competitiveness of the real economy.
Better regulation
They will also look at the 'better regulation' agenda, with a particular focus on the improvement of the functioning of the internal market.
The 'better regulation' agenda seeks to improve the way the EU legislates and to make sure it serves better citizens and businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises. One of the main goals is to ensure that EU policies and laws achieve their objectives at minimum cost and administrative burden.
Unitary patent
The Council will also be updated on the progress of the implementation of the unitary patent protection system.
On the sidelines of the meeting, there will be the signing ceremony of a Protocol concerning the provisional application of the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court. Once established, the court will handle disputes related to European and unitary patents.
