Agenda highlights

On Thursday, justice ministers will try to reach a partial general approach on a regulation establishing a European public prosecutor's office. They will also have a general discussion on the consequences of the invalidation of the Data Retention Directive.

On Friday, home affairs ministers will discuss actions in the fight against terrorism and the internal security strategy of the EU. They will take note of the progress in negotiations with the Parliament on a directive for the use of passenger name record (PNR) data.

The issue of migration will be covered by both sets of ministers. Justice ministers are expected to discuss the aspects of judicial cooperation and the fight against xenophobia on the basis of a presidency report. Home affairs ministers will also take stock of the current situation and recent EU action.
