Transport, Telecommmunications and Energy
Council Meeting

Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council

26-11-2015 - Justus Lipsius building

Agenda highlights

The Council is expected to reach a general approach on the proposal for a regulation setting a framework for energy efficiency labelling. Energy labelling allows consumers to make informed choices about energy consumption of products and so promotes innovation.

In February, the Commission presented the energy union strategy. The ministers will hold a related policy debate on the Commission's released communications on:

  • launching public consultation process on a new energy market
  • delivering a new deal for energy consumers

The aim is to fully include the consumers in the energy transformation and benefit them with the energy efficient technologies, which reduce costs as well as energy consumption.

The Council is also expected to adopt conclusions on energy union governance, which will provide policy and technical guidance to the Commission in establishing the energy union.

Ministers will also look at the first annual report of the Commission on the state of the energy union, prepared by the Commissioner Šefčovič, adopted by the Commission on November 18. The document presents analysis at the national level and also includes Commission's recommendations.

Ministers will also be informed by the Commission on the state of play of international energy relations.
