The Communication department of the European Economic and Social Committee, in cooperation with the Luxembourg presidency of the Council, is organising its 9th Civil Society Media Seminar. The seminar will be held at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg on 26-27 November 2015 and will be entitled Communicating European Development Policy.
Distinguished speakers from media, international organisations and EU institutions, NGOs, civil society organisations as well as members of the EESC will be discussing this theme as seen from three different angles:
-
The EYD2015 campaign: raising awareness, increasing engagement
This first panel will look at the first achievements of the current European Year for development and examine which communication tools have had most success.
-
Communicating development: the role of civil society organisations and media
In this second panel we will focus on the role of civil society in development policy and on how media help to communicate on this topic.
-
How to communicate SDGs effectively
This last panel will cover the sustainable development goals (SDGs), recently adopted by the UN, and the role the EU can play in effectively communicating on this topic.
The seminar is specifically targeted at communication and press officers from Member States' civil society organisations, EU institutions and agencies, as well as journalists working in the field of development.
