The Social Protection Committee is an EU advisory policy committee for the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO), established by article 160 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU. It monitors social conditions in the EU and the development of social protection policies in member countries and promotes discussion and coordination of policy approaches in relation to social protection and social inclusion.
The informal meeting of the Social Protection Committee scheduled the 17th and 18th September in Luxembourg will be essentially devoted to a discussion on the strengthening of the social dimension in the EU’s governance framework and its implications for the Committee work. The Committee will also hold an exchange of views on the pension adequacy report with the social partners and the Social Plateform.
