Informal meeting of Ministers and State Secretaries for European Affairs

At the invitation of the Luxembourg Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn, in his capacity as President of the EU Council, Ministers and State Secretaries for European Affairs will gather on 23 and 24 July 2015 in Luxembourg for their traditional informal meeting.
In the presence of the First Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, Ministers and State Secretaries for European Affairs of the EU Member States, as well as representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council, are going to have an exchange of views on the priorities put forward by the Luxembourg Presidency and the main challenges that the EU will be confronted with during the second semester of 2015. The Luxembourg Presidency has also invited the EU candidate countries to take part in this first working session.
A second session will be dedicated to the implementation of the 2015 working programme of the European Commission while allowing Ministers to hold an initial exchange of views on the 2016 annual programming of the EU. Over lunch, Ministers will discuss the Five Presidents’ Report on completing the Economic and Monetary Union.
