Jean Asselborn chaired the Political Dialogue Meeting at ministerial level between the European Union and the Southern Africa Development Community

Réunion UE-SACD, Luxembourg, 27 octobre 2015On behalf of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, Luxembourg's Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, chaired the Political Dialogue Meeting  at ministerial level between the European Union (EU) and the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), which was held in Luxembourg on 27 October.

The SADC, created in 1992, comprises 15 Southern African States (Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe) and aims to promote development, economic growth, peace and security in the region, in particular by supporting regional integration as well as democratic principles and sustainable development.

The political dialogue aimed to further cooperation between the EU and the Southern Africa region on various issues of mutual interest, including, in particular, job creation and investment, peace and security, migration and the fight against climate change.
