The current President of the Agriculture Council, the Luxembourg Minister Fernand Etgen, met the French Minister of Agriculture Stéphane Le Foll in Paris on 30 July 2015 to discuss the difficulties faced by the diary, beef and pork sectors in France and in the majority of European regions.

Following the growing concern about the economic crisis especially in the dairy and in the livestock sectors in certain Member States of the EU, the Luxembourg presidency decided to convene an extraordinary Agriculture Council meeting on Monday, the 7th of September 2015, in Brussels.

As with all rotating Presidencies, the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union is offering a decoration of the Council's "Justus Lipsius" building in Brussels. The Government has entrusted the project to the Ministry of Culture, which has been working with the Luxembourg consultant and designer, Georges Zigrand, to create a unified design of three areas: the so-called "Presidency's Office", the hall and the atrium.

They agreed that these SDGs are a challenge and an opportunity for the international and the European level leading towards a more sustainable, equitable and coherent policy making.

Informal Meeting of EU Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) in Luxembourg
The Minister for Immigration and Asylum, Jean Asselborn, chaired the informal meeting of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) on 9 July 2015, which dealt with matters relating to migration.The focus of discussion included the migration crisis in the Mediterranean, the fight against human trafficking and the control and management of migratory flows. The discussions also addressed issues related to the relocation and resettlement of people to be protected in European countries.
EU budget 2016 - Council agrees its position
On 9 July 2015, the Council's Permanent Representatives Committee agreed its position on the draft 2016 EU budget, on the basis of a compromise text of the Luxembourg Presidency. "I believe that the Council’s political agreement strikes the right balance between fiscal consolidation and strategic investments that Europe needs to mitigate the negative effects of the current economic and social situation", said Pierre Gramegna, Luxembourg’s minister for Finance and President of the Council.
